Christmas Bags for the Elderly

Christmas 2016 has seen the twelth year in which the Rotary Club of Keilor has supported the local Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) in bringing some festive cheer to that service’s most housebound, restricted and isolated clients.

The project involved the provision of 100 Shopping bags into which we had packed Christmas goodies including Christmas cake/plum puddings, small food items, personal hygiene, grooming and household products.

The appreciation received from this project begins when the bags are delivered to the RDNS and we witness the anticipation with which the Nurses look forward to bringing Christmas joy to their patients through the efforts of our Club.  A small number of the bags were placed directly with, and received similar appreciation, from, some needy recipients of whom Club members were personally aware.

In undertaking this project, the Club had great support from a number of businesses.  We are indebted to them for that support and they can be well pleased at the joy evidenced on the faces of recipients of the bags at what, for many, can be a very lonely time.Again this year the Rotary Club of Keilor collected donation from local business and Rotary members in the  Keilor and Niddrie areas to make up Christmas hamper bags for the lonely, isoleted members of the local community. The Christams Bags were delivered by Royal District Nurses to clients they had identified.
