The Rotary Club of Keilor, together with a number of other Rotary Clubs in Melbourne’s west, has established a program to facilitate the placement of donated second hand mobility & lifestyle aids into the community where such placement is endorsed and requested by a health, allied health, aged care, disability service provider etc as meeting a need that cannot otherwise be met in a reasonable timeframe because of its urgency, lack of access to funding etc.

The types of equipment include walkers, commodes, shower chairs, mechanical slings, non-motorised wheelchairs, adjustable beds etc which have been sourced from organizations and individuals who no longer need it.   Available equipment will have been checked and appropriately cleaned, and will be provided on the understanding that it is second hand and that full responsibility for its use rests entirely with the user.

Supporting the Program by Donating Equipment

Rotary is keen to accept used Mobility and Lifestyle aids that are still in good working order from community members and health agenciesn (we do not have the ability to restore unservicable items). Mobility and Lifestyle aids can be donated by delivering them to the Rotary Donations in Kind Store located at the very rear of 400 Sommerville Rd West Footscray on a Tuesday or Thursday between 9am and 3pm. If you are unable to deliver the items personally please contact a Rotary Club in your area (most Rotary Club have a website)

By donating equipment into the program you will have the satisfaction of knowing that it will begin a new life by helping Rotary provide essential living support to a needy recipient in our local community or in a developing country. 

Accessing available equipment

Health, allied health, aged care and disability service providers may access available equipment on behalf of patients with a genuine need by contacting their local Rotary Club’s program contact officer 
Requests cannot be received from individuals and must only come from health, allied health, aged care and/or disability service providers following an assessment by them that the equipment is required and that the need cannot otherwise be met because of its urgency, supply difficulties, financial considerations etc.

Once a Rotary Club receives a request made in accordance with the above, it will confirm equipment availability, and timing, and arrange for the requesting agency to collect the items from the Donations In Kind Store at the very rear of 400 Sommerville Rd West Footscray on a Tuesday or Thursday between 9am and 3pm
